RIP ignore

A thin shell RIP condition normally causes a Preset to be canceled, but can be ignored by setting the appropriate controls on the IIFGUI Control form. If the RIP is to be ignored, the fallback mode can be chosen: GUIDE, ACTIVE, or Paused. ACTIVE will only be honored if the simplemode is MODE_ACTIVE; choosing GUIDE forces the simplemode to be no higher than MODE_GUIDE. If Paused is chosen, the RIP is ignored, but the GCS is not allowed to send updates to the PCS and PSF. Instead, when the RIP is cleared, a pauseGuiding/resumeGuiding sequence is done, so the guide (and WFS) loop is restarted. This prevents bad data from being sent to the PCS/PSF while the shell is in RIP.

Canceling Presets

Presets are canceled if the mount (including the rotator) goes off source for more than 4 seconds (unless off source is expected, i.e., during an Offset), if the side has an adaptive secondary and the AOS is not running or the shell is RIPed (unless RIP is ignored), if M1 is not ready (unless RIP is ignored), or if requested by the operator on the IIFGUI Control form. Off source is computed by the mount, and the IIF distinguishes between STATIC and TRACK modes. When the Preset is canceled, guiding, active optics, adaptive optics, and PCS generated pointing corrections are stopped, and the Preset state is set to "None". This allows the operator to preform a manual move of the telescope without having to worry about stopping the current activity. A new Preset must be issued to do more observing.

Dropping out of Guide/Active Mode

A Guide or Active mode Preset is abandoned if the GCS is stopped, or guiding is stopped. The Preset state is set to MODE_TRACK. A new Guide/Active mode Preset must be sent to resume Guide/Active observing.

Dropping out of Adaptive Mode

Any Adaptive mode Preset is abandoned if the AOS is stopped, or AO is stopped. The GCS is notified to resume sending guide updates to the PCS if the simplemode is MODE_GUIDE or higher, and active optics updates to the PSF if the simplemode is MODE_ACTIVE; the Preset state is set to the simplemode. A new Adaptive mode Preset must be sent to resume Adaptive observing.

Checking for Adaptive loop open

If the AO loop opens unexpectedly (including shell RIP if RIP is ignored) and the fallback mode is not 'Paused', the GCS is notified to resume sending guide updates to the PCS if the simplemode is MODE_GUIDE or higher, and active optics updates to the PSF if the simplemode is MODE_ACTIVE. If the fallback mode is 'Paused', the GCS is notified to NOT send updates to the PCS/PSF. The Preset state is not changed, and the process will be reversed if the AO loop is closed.
