GCS ALH Guidance Page

This page was created to be referenced from the ALH GUI. However, this page is not actually referenced because the alarms it addresses do not exist in the ALH configuration.
GCS is setting the severity bits for these alarms, but Michele didn't know anything about them, so she said not to trust them. There are no comments about whether they alarm too much, or why they were commented out of the GUI. Maybe GCS shouldn't be in there at all since it's not really a required subsystem, except for LUCI, MODS, PEPSI.

GCS State

Overall GCS state combines the highest severity for AGw motion, GuideCam and WFSCam operations.

AGW State

1. If the AGw or its environmental entries or the temperature on the GCS AGW Control GUI are in alarm:
  • Ensure the oacontrol computer is running and on the network by pinging the machine "oac" (IP: 192.168.2.150). If it is not running, you will have to reboot the machine which is located in the computer room A. Type "ping -c 5 oac.mountain.lbto.org".
  • See the notes here: Operating the AGw Units for details on what to look for to see if the oacontrol is OK.

GuideCam State

1. If the GuideCam cannot be initialized ensure the following items:
  • AGw unit is powered ON.
  • camera server for AGw unit is powered ON and can be pinged. If it is not running, you will have to reboot the machine which is located in CRB.
  • controller server for AGw unit is powered ON and can be pinged. If it is not running, you will have to reboot the machine which is located in CRB.
  • See the notes on the Operating the AzCam Guider and WFS units in the AGWs page for which machines are relevant to which AGw unit, etc.
  • Check if the GuideCam image can be acquired.
2. If a GuideCamera temperature on the Guide Control GUI is above ambient temperature, restart GCS and verify the temperature again:
  • If the Guide Camera temperature has a "Clear Alarm" button, try to clear the alarm.
  • If this does not work, you will need to power off AGw (including Guide Camera) and contact mountain personnel to investigate the coolant temperature.

WFSCam State

1. If the WFSCam cannot be initialized ensure the following items:
  • AGw unit is powered ON.
  • camera server for AGw unit is powered ON and can be pinged. If it is not running, you will have to reboot the machine which is located in the CRB.
  • controller server for AGw unit is powerd ON and can be pinged. If it is not running, you will have to reboot the machine which is located in the CRB.
  • See the notes on the Operating the AzCam Guider and WFS units in the AGWs page for which machines are relevant to which AGw unit, etc.
  • Check if the WFS image can be acquired.
