LBTO Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Home

The LBTO is committed to protecting the health and safety of our staff, visitors, the community and the environment as we carry out our scientific mission. We believe that safety, science, productivity, and quality are mutually supportive, and that safety is integral to each job. Current Summit Travel Restrictions: 4 Wheel Drive Only with High Under Clearance (Truck or Large SUV) Only due to rain, road washouts, and snow. Call Summit for clearance before departing base camp.

In Case of Emergency at the LBT Observatory (Mountain):

  1. Evacuate to safe area if necessary
  2. Call for help (3 "Maydays" over radio & 911)
  3. Assist to your level of training and experience.
