Observing Plan

  • Closed dome SW tests, if requested
  • Review mountain observing accounts, disk space, SW (IDL, iraf, etc).

  • Correct initial collimation/pointing:
    • Use Brackett Gamma filter
    • Can do in twilight, immediately after sunset
    • Correct IE/CA at high elevation (ptcorr)
    • Check IA at low elevation (should be OK)

  • Open dome SW tests, if requested
    • Retest update pointing origin functionality through IRTC commands
    • Optical pointing/co-pointing/range balancing algorithm, also using IRTC

  • Run science-type dice5 pattern to check that basic functionality still works

  • Repeat accurate measurement of focal plane scale, orientation
    • Target fields: (any low lat field OK, dense Stone fields better)
    • Take several pairs (for sky sub) across night/sky
    • correct LEFTZEROPOINT after Jul2010 servicing

  • Check LUCIFER cold pupil centering on sky, multiple rotator angles, low and high EL.

### Everything below here requires stable temperature/telescope/weather!

  • Take data for new collimation model
    • Stable conditions!
    • Generate, implement, and check
    • Collimation targets in catalog: XXXXXX

  • Check existing pointing model
    • Stable conditions!
    • Use new collimation model!
    • Parallel LEFT/RIGHT observations if possible!
    • Take a full set of 56 points if conditions are good
    • Generate, implement, and check

  • Collect field aberration data

  • Collect astrometric field data to check AGw calibration for monitoring

  • Collect through-focus sequence for Andrew - reasonably dense star field.
    • Try Z4 of -1000, -500. 0, 500, 1000 nm
    • Also check the AGw-LUCIFER focus in cold weather for temp term?
