Short Summary of how to Observe with LUCIFER
NB: Read the manual first.
These are terse notes by the AZ observers to remind you what to do if you've already done everything before. Please update as needed.
Setting up scripts and getting ready for your run
Find a guide star for your target
Setting up scripts for zJHK Imaging
Setting up scripts for longslit spectroscopy
Check your scripts with the syntax checker
In the Afternoon:
Start up the LUCIFER Control Software; Take a test exposure
Take Darks
unless you got them in the morning
Flush the detector
if it needs it
Move your scripts to lucifer and check them
Take internal flats for imaging
At night:
Take Sky Flats
if it's clear
Check pointing
(Obsolete: Operator will do this at beginning of night)
Start Wave Front Sensing
(Obsolete: Operator will do this at beginning of night)
Execute a Lucifer Script
Abort a Lucifer Script
Look at Lucifer Data in Skycat
Put an object in a long slit
Align a MOS mask
Observe a Telluric Standard through a MOS Mask
Take Arcs and Lamp Flats
Display image differences with qdisp
Watch the guide camera and WFS on your computer
At Dawn
Close down when you're done for the night
Take Darks
Copy your data before you leave
At Home
Get your data from the archive
