Collimate the Telescope

January 2011: Operator will do this, you don't have to.

1. Find a Persson Standard near your first object.

LOAD CATALOGUE LOAD TARGET COORDINATE LOAD PerssonStars2.tab Chose a star near your first object.

The entries with names like BS9105_GS12 are guide stars for the Persson standards.

We noticed that a number of the stars do not have valid Guide Stars, and when there are independently telescope pointing errors, it is confusing.

So we remeasured guide stars for a number of the Persson standards: they have names like

BS9105_COR

for "Corrected"

Commit Star

2. Go to it and start the WFS software.

Set Target

Set Guide

Rotation Mode: POSITION

TEL MODE: ACTIVE

Set TELESCOPE

COMMIT TELESCOPE SETUP

From a unix window in obs2, type

IIFGUI

GCSGUI

to bring up the guis if they are not already running.

If the guider can't find a star, try another one.

When RMS WFE < 400 then collimation is good.
