Summary : Clear night, Seeing ~ 0.5". A significant portion of time was lost because of several mishaps - collimation failing, not finding objects, script errors. When trying to automate the process of observing the telluric standards it became clear that several parameters that are calculated by the mask making code, are translated into parameters in the mask making software, which are imcompatible with the FITS headers.

Observers : Emily McLinden, Marie Rex, Christopher Willmer, Olga Kuhn, David Gonzalez-Huerta Lucifer + MOS

SkyFlats - by accident some of the sky flats were given an incorrect date. Flats 20101011_Flat_0001-44 are for UT date 2010 10 12.

Last night the observers using the 200 H+K grating noticed that the sky lines shifted as a function of Airmass. Although there are no final conclusions, it is possible that the look-up tables for the Flexure compensation are not current. On the positive side we see no effect on data taken tonight.

Telluric standard for McLinden complete

Completed 70 min of McLinden science

McLinden arcs and flats completed

Telluric standard for McLinden completed

Switched to Rieke/Whipu project -- started at 5:03UT

Started Whipu science acquisition at 6:05UT -- aborted at ~6:45 due to incorrect blind offset

Restarted Whipu science with correct offset - 10 offsets completed by 7:47UT when limit was reached

Flat and arc scripts done for Whipu.

Started Willmer Observations around 1am -- collimation not converging around 1:15am so observations stopped

Collimation converged, seeing at 0.5" at 2:05, resuming Willmer science

Out of Disk space at 2:20am - connection to GEIRS lost

GEIRS restarted/recovered at 2:48 am --> restarting Willmer scripts
