Printing at the LBT from your Laptops.

There is a standard 600dpi black and white HP Laser Jet printer in the control room for use by visiting astronomers. Once your laptop is connected (see ConnectingLaptops), follow the instructions below to add the LBT printer to your available printer list.

  • Linux

For variations on CentOS/RHEL/Fedora, the queues are set up in CUPS (Common Unix Printing System). For the HP 4100 laser printer in the control room:

  • Select IP printer
  • Enter the IP address as:
  • Leave any queue name blank to set to default

The process will be similar for other versions of linux, but the specific printer configuration software may be different.

  • Mac

The printer should be on the Rendezvous (OS X10.3) or Bonjour (OS X10.4) menu, so once you are connected (see ConnectingLaptops) just print your file the normal way (command-P) and under the Printer menu look under Rendezvous/Bonjour printers. On that list you should see two entries for HP Laserjet 4100. If you leave the cursor on one (usually the first) it will pop up an information window stating it is the printer in the control rom. For the 11x17inch color printer, select the HP Business Inkjet 2800.

  • Windows XP

For Windows XP you need to...(any windows experts out there?)
