PartnerObserving Log for 2007 Oct 03-04

Observers: J. Hill, V. Testa
Telescope Operator: A. Ceranski

Never opened because of high humidity and eventually fog. T=7degC.

All science images taken before midnight are saturated. Problem cured by multiple power cyclings of LBC.

Dark tests with shutter open

Telescope at zenith, dome dark, LBC-Blue front cover open

074125 - 900 sec dark with shutter closed
080322 - 900 sec V exposure with shutter open, PA=0 ROT=60
081934 - 900 sec dark with shutter closed
084443 - 900 sec V exposure with shutter open, PA=180 ROT=-116

08:42:37 - connection timeout error

Telescope at horizon, dome dark, cover open

091422 - 900 sec dark with shutter closed
094025 - 900 sec V exposure with shutter open, PA=0 ROT=13
095607 - 900 sec dark with shutter closed
101834 - 900 sec V exposure with shutter open, PA=180 ROT=-167

Conclusion of this sequence is that we have stray light at a level of 10 counts/min (150 counts in 900 sec) in a diffuse pattern coming from somewhere. Vincenzo notes that the pattern has some characteristics of a flat field. We don't know if the light is coming from inside the LBC-Blue hub, or from somewhere in the dark dome. See tomorrow's measurements with the LBC-Blue front cover on.

Science CCD controller error at 10:33:34 UT (4 Oct).

"SPC-A200 status register read fail" (code:38) controller error [ccdctrl.c:2039] Countdown was at the end of 900 sec, but readout never happened.

Two TurnOff/TurnOn cycles failed to fix it (problems with Trackers voltages). So I rebooted CMU at 10:50 UT. That didn't help, so another TurnOff/TurnOn cycle at 10:58 UT which also failed.

10:57:42 on trackers: bad Bias voltage on line #13 ( +9.23V instead of ++21.00V+-0.50V)

See Issues #838 and #839 to follow the details.
