LBTI Wiki!

This wiki is intended as a means of capturing and providing up-to-date operational information for the LBTI.

For an assortment of tips on dealing with the vagaries and whims of this particular wiki software, see FoswikiTips.

Routine Operations

This section contains information on routine night-time operations of the LBTI and its components such as evening startup of AO and science cameras, observing instructions for different modes, etc.

Instrument Maintenance

This section contains information on the maintenance procedures of the LBTI and its components such as procedures for routine replacement of parts, information data archiving, health checks, and routine calibrations.

Health Checks and Routine Calibrations

As part of NASA's mission assurance during the HOSTS survey and additionally in order to streamline procedures with LBTO and satisfy LBTO requirements, we have implemented a range of instrument health checks. In addition, there are a range of routine calibrations that benefit a large range of science projects and our own instrumentation work. These tasks are summarized in the table below:

Task Interval Instructions
LBTI pre-run check-out ~1 week before each run link
LMIRCam nightly darks each night on sky link
LMIRCam AO health check each night on sky link
LMIRCam detector linearity each run link
LMIRCam distortion correction each run link
LMIRCam astrometry solution each semester link
