LBCFPIA = LBC Focal Plane Image Analysis

This page contains internal reports which describe how FPIA works to estimate the Zernike aberration coefficients: defocus (z4), astigmatism (z5 and z6), coma (z7 and z8), low order spherical z11 and higher order spherical z22 from on-axis extra-focal pupil images.

Internal Reports

  • "Inner Workings of dofpia" (2013): extracts the equations used by the FPIA source code and the configurable parameters. Contains the collimation section from the old users' manual and links to LBC engineering data on abell.
  • Elongated PSFs in LBC Images with the Addition of the /PupiStats Keyword to LBCFPIA.pro (2013) S Villanueva: Steven created a standalone version with a /pupistats keyword to output the FPIA fit results for each star in order to try to find out why we sometimes saw elongated LBCB images. He compared FPIA's estimated seeing value with the FWHM on the science images.
