Observer LUCI-Team: JHeidt, OKuhn (LBTO)
Observer AO-Team: DMiller, GTaylor (LBTO)
Telescope Operator: Sallenson
LBTO Support: TSargent

Observations done remotely from Tucson

Plan for the night

LUCI-AO short images

LUCI-AO AFC-imaging

Summary

- Most of the night closed due to high winds

- No LUCI-AO

- A bit of SA AO-training

- Practicing AO troubleshooting

Details

All times are UT
Files are luci1/2.20170922.NNNN.fits

01:20 Sunset, sky mostly clear, T = +9deg, hum = 60%, strong winds ~20m/s

Stay closed as long as the winds are high

03:00 Wind has lowered bit, Steve is giving it a try and opens up

Try LUCI-AO, DIMM-seeig 1.5", lets give it a try, not clear if it works

03:30 Preset to 3C 452, H-band, Bin=2, preset OK, RunAO, closed@DX, loop opened @SX,
both loops closed, no NCPA; both loops opened due to a seeing spike at the same time
after 6 images.

L1: # 2 - 8, L2: # 2 - 8

Greg had to to mask out one of the actuators and to restart AO@DX

04:17 Resent preset, OK, RunAO OK, taking data,

04:43 Loop opens again

DIMM between 1.1" and 1.5"

L1: #9 - 12, L2: #9 - 12

LUCI-AO doesn't make sense at this conditions. We continue, however,
for SA-training and to allow the AO-group to gain experience in troubleshooting during observations

DIMM now towards 2"

Doug is still having trouble with reconstructor at bin=2, the ones used are old,
there is a new one for Bin=1, which we will used now

Bin=1

05:35 Preset to HR 8799, we are observing into the wind, just to see if
the loop can be closed at all. Yes, both loops are closed at some point
loop at SX opens, closed, both loop opens, too much into the wind, stopped

06:01 Preset to P Cyg, long slew, failed, Steve checks pointing, resent preset,
didn't go through, restarted telescope manager & service, resent present, OK
RunAO failed @DX

06:26 Closed, wind is getting back above the limits
