PSF test

S. Esposito, A. Puglisi

Test to see whether the PSF is diffraction-limited. WFS in configuration mode "torre7pomeriggio_goodWFS" (without using the secondary mirror).

Data saved in /home/labot/measurements/TowerTest/20090601

PSF47_850_10_seq:

Sequence of 10 frames
FW1: dicroic 600-1000
FW2: 850/10

PSF47_850_10_avg:
Average of 10 frames, same conditions as before

PSF47_850_10_2seq:
Repetition of the previous average to see the repeatability

The PSF peak is shared between two pixels. We try to move the stages to see if we can get it on one pixel, moving X stage by 2 micron (!)

PSF47_850_10_avg2:
Sequence of 10 frames
FW1: dicroic 600-1000
FW2: 850/10
Stage X offset: -0.002 mm

The PSF is a bit better, but the peak intensity is 1000 counts less!! Also the total energy (sum of a square 40x40 pixel) is less. Lamp fluctuation??

We now try to adjust the focus:

PSF47_850_10_avg3:
Sequence of 10 frames
FW1: dicroic 600-1000
FW2: 850/10
Stage X offset: -0.002 mm
Stage Z offset: +0.148 mm

Seems a bit better but not by much. The psf shows astigmatism when intra- or extra-focal. The ADC seems reasonably in position.
