Network Layout for the LBT Adaptive Optics System

FLAO #1 Network configuration

The network layout adopted in the first phase of FLAO commissioning has been described in document CAN 485f004g: LBT AO System Network Topology.

As of the end of may 2011 we set up a simplified layout which makes use of the advanced characteristics of the Cisco switches used at LBTO. The new layout is described in version h of the same document (yet to be published).

Current cabling

With reference to the rear panel drawing (see below) adsecdx/wfsdx are connected as follows:

  • adsecdx:
    • Connect eth3 (RP-4) to SW-42

  • wfsdx:
    • Connect eth5 (RP-Gb2) to SW-40

Current network configuration

  • adsecdx:
    • eth3 - IP: 192.168.11.12; mask: 255.255.255.0
    • Gateway: 192.168.11.1

  • wfsdx;
    • eth5 - IP: 192.168.10.11; mask: 255.255.255.0
    • Gateway: 192.168.10.1

How to go back to pre May 2011 configuration

Here follows the instructions to go back to pre May 2011 layout, should it be necessary.

Note: the configuration described below does not use the direct ethernet cable connection between adsecdx and wfsdx.

Cabling

For the correspondance between ethernet device and plug on the rear paneli (RP) of adsecdx and wfsdx refer to the drawing.

All connections are to switch CRA-SW0202-B (SW)

  • adsecdx:
    • Connect eth3 (RP-4) to SW-10
    • Connect eth4 (RP-Gb1) to SW-36

  • wfsdx:
    • Connect eth5 (RP-Gb2) to SW-8
    • Connect eth4 (RP-Gb2) to SW-34

Network configuration

  • adsecdx:
    • eth4 - IP: 10.144.0.84 mask:255.255.255.0
    • eth3 - IP: 192.168.11.12 mask: 255.255.255.0
    • Gateway: 10.144.0.1

  • wfsdx:
    • eth4 - IP: 10.144.0.85 mask: 255.255.255.0
    • eth5 - IP: 192.168.10.11 mask: 255.255.255.0
    • Gateway: 10.144.0.1

MsgD Peer definitions

  • adsecdx:
    • In file /home/aoacct/AO/current/conf/adsec/672a/msgdrtdb.conf the "peers" definition must be:
      peers FLAOWFS:10.144.0.85,LBTIWFS:192.168.149.100

  • wfsdx:
    • in file /home/aoacct/AO/current/conf/wfs/W2/msgdrtdb.conf the "peers" definition must be:
      peers ADSEC:10.144.0.84

AOS

AOS configuration requires the IP number of adsecdx.

In file: /lbt/tcs/BP11/aos/etc/aos.conf the definition of AOSRMsgDIp must be:
AOSRMsgDIp string 10.144.0.84
