Preliminary operations

Environmental conditions will possibly be favourable during the night. John Hill will operate the telescope remotely.

01:28UT: preliminary inspection of the gap (nominal values, i.e. 24um<pos<39um); all processes on and no failure noticed. The telescope is at zenith.

Software preparation

According to John Hill's schedule, thin shell astigmatism will be sampled at changing elevation during the first part of the night. This operation requires that the automatic astigmatism offload is off: this operation is started and stopped with the command enable/disable_ho_offload, i.e. the offload of both high orders and astigmatism is executed by the same routine.

To disable the astigmatism correction without stopping the (real) high order correction, the routine get_zern_flat_lut is momentarily modified in $ADOPT_ROOT.
