Software Progress Report - September 2007

A significant percentage of september activity was devoted to the improvement of functionalities and reliability of the controllers (software processes which manage optoelectronic devices) and of the related diagnostic software.

  • Improvements were made to controllers and diagnostic for the two CCD cameras, the interferometer and some safety devices in the AGW. A specific controller has been developed for the new camera lens.

  • The startup procedure for the WFS has been improved and is now fully functional.

  • A review of the WFS calibration procedures to verify the suitability to the lab tests has been started and will be continued in the next weeks.

  • The code for the management of the thin shell of the adaptive secondary has been also reviewed in order to improve the safety of the shell at different elevations. A study of safe procedures in the presence of wind has been started.

  • The diagnostic and logging utilities have also been improved.

  • The AOS code development has been continued. All the basic communication functions needed to implement commands both in engineering and in observation modes have been coded and tested. A test program has been improved in order to allow the off-line testing of engineering mode commands.

  • The OS configuration of the PC to be used for lab tests has been reviewed in order to improve the repeatability of the TCS software installation procedure.
