Software Progress Report - January 2010

The software activity in january 2010 was mostly devoted to the preparation for the installation of Supervisor Software at the telescope. More work was also done in the fixing of action items from the acceptance test. A few upgrades to AOS were also done.

More in details:

Software shipping and installation preparation

  • The Supervisor source tree was cleaned to remove unneeded packages and a few full installations from scratch were done to thest the procedure. A minor reorganization of the directory structure was also performed.

  • As a by product of the above activity, the support for software version control for the AO in Arcetri was moved from CVS to Subversion.

  • A few prelimiary checks have been made remotely to verify the readiness of AO workstations installed at Mt.Graham.

Action items fixing

  • All "phase 1" action items (i.e.: A.I. to be solved prior of the shipping of AO hardware to Arizona) were fixed in due time. The activity has been continued to work on remaing issues. Current status of this process can be found in the specific document.

AOS

  • The support for variable expiring has been added. Now for each DD variable which is provided with a corresponding timer (i.e.: another DD variable with a timestamp) a timeout can be defined. If the last upodate is older than the specified timeout, variable update into AO-Sup RTDB is suspended. This will suspend notification of variable change to the relevant ptocesses in AO Supervisor.

  • A few en hancements to the GUI have been made as a result of the Action Items fixing work.

Miscellaneous

  • Work is in progress to upgrade some basic functionalities of the MsgD. in order to further increase its robustness. Software installation at the telescope will be performed, anyway, using the version tested at Arcetri. The upgrade will be retrofitted into shipped software during the period of commissioning after the new MsgD has passed the functionality tests.
