Obelix Setup

Obelix is the main server for the AO group. It operates essentially as web server (including this Foswiki installation), as svn server and as manager for various backups onto NAS devices.

Disk organization

Obelix uses mainly two 250 GB disks:

  • /export/home/obelix
    Used for home directories.

  • /4lbt
Used for all the services, namely:
    • LBT archive
    • mysql data (supports bugzilla)
    • svn repositories
    • Web pages
    • foswiki (supports the Wiki server)

Obelix NAS

The server mounts four (4) NFS based NAS to be used for backup and archiving:

Obelix backups

See the backup procedure.

  • Homedirs backup: All homedirs ( /export/home/obelix) are backup every night (to /mirror0/obelix-home). The backup is done via rdiff-backup and provides three months of backup history

  • Archives and web pages backup: The full content of /4lbt disk is backup every night (to /mirror0/obelix-4lbt). The backup is done via rdiff-backup and provides two months of backup history

Note: More automatic backup procedures are active from LBTO AO server machines see: BackupLBTO
