AGW#1 trovato nella stanza dei power cabinets. Viene portato in lab e collegato con MiniMC e power supply.

Facciamo un Power On con successo anche se la slitta Y non si è mossa.

Non c'e' stato errore nella procedura di power on nonostante la slitta Y non si sia mossa.

09:26 W Fucntional Check

09:47 Pericolo condensa

Il glicole arriva a +6C ma calcolando il dewpoint troviamo +8. Infatti il tubo inizia ad essere umido. Fermiamo il glicole e teniamo d'occhio le temp nelle scatole.

Mike dice che il sistema automatico di regolazione della temp tiene d'occhio il dew point, MA SOLO QUELLO NEL DOME!!

10:05 Operazione y-stage repair:

Prima di tutto apriamo la box 3 e verifichiamo il blinking dei led dei drivers. Il dirver Y blinka esattamente come gli altri quindi non e' lui.

Si procede a controllare il giunto tra il motore e la vita senza fine.

NOTE 1: La chiave Allen che serviva per disavitare il giunto e la 3/32 !!!

NOTE 2: Il motore e fissato con 2 viti su 4.

Il motore è stato tolto.

Abbiamo alentato il giunto e la slitta Y non è caduta anche se disconessa dal motore. Questo vuole dire che qualcosa la sta bloccando???

Mike W trova un cacciavite (chiave a tubo) che con un po' di nastro d'argento fitta bene il giunto che questa volta è rimasto attaccato alla slitta. Con questo cacciavite riusciamo a muovere la slitta.

The Y-stage was moved all over its range with a screwdriver by hand (seen in photo below). In the beginning, it was hard to move it, but after several ups and downs all over the moving range, the friction reduced and the movement was smooth. According to Mark W, after all the time the AGW was left unused, it could be that the grease accumulated and hardened causing this effect. In the photo below you can see the accumulated grease (a yellow ring on the lead screw).

MOTOR CHECK:

Now it is time to test the motor! For this we had to power on the whole system. Alfio connected directly his laptop via serial cable to the motor driver, and using the CME software to control the driver.

Test 1: Brake test

Opening the brake, it was possible to turn the shaft by hand. Conclusion: the brake works.

Test 2: Move the motor

Problem 2.1: The CME control software requires the postion and/or velocity feedback to move the shaft, but position feedback is not available. Alfio disable the position feedback.

Problem 2.2: The cable of the w-switch was sometines loose contact. It was properly connected.

The motor moves! Alfio commanded one turn forward and backward and the shaft moved accordingly!

14:00 Check spare motors

Contrplliamo i connettori del motore originale W#1 e gli spare preparati da LBTO.

Ci accorgiamo subito che c'e' un problema di genere. Il W#1 è stato cablato con lo stesso tipo di connettore del W#2 ma con maschio e femmina scambiati.

La cosa piu' giusta sarebbe cambiare il connettore dalla parte del W#1 così da renderlo identico al W#2 ma non abbiamo il connettore giusto da mettere.

Se vogliamo provare il motore spare dobbiamo rimuovere il connettore dal motore originale W#1 e metterlo sullo spare. Questo sempre che abbiamo i pin da usare per questa operazione.

Nella foto a SX il motore originale W#1, a dx il nuovo motore spare cablato da LBT copiando il motore del W#2

14:45 TEST OF AGW DX

A general WFS DX test was done, confirming that everything works properly (including the y-stage). However, we could see no light on the CCD!!!

It seems that the cover of the cube was left inside??????? TBC

15:15 BACK TO THE WFS SX

Since all components were working properly by themselves, we mounted the motor again and tried to move the y-stage.... and it moved!

Test 1: y-stage was horizontally: mean 1.5 A current required to move.

Test 2: y-stage was vertically: higher currents required! 2.7 A peak (mean value 2.5 A).

To compare these current values with the ones required to move the x-stage, we performed these tests:

Test 3: x-stage was horizontally: mean value of 0.5 A required to move.

We connected back the direct link between the CME software and the driver. This software allows to monitor and plot the current, velocity, etc. vs. time as the stage moves.

17:30 ispezione visuale rail Y stage

Muoviamo la slitta Y tutta in su e ispezioniamo vidalmente i rails.

Guardando da lato fiorieri il rail di destra sembra abbia degli scratch e della ruggine, quello di sx sembra in migliori condizioni.

18:00 Scambio motore X e Y

Se scambiando i motori X e Y la corrente eccessiva per gli spostamenti della slitta Y rimangono sulla slitta Y allora i motori non c'entrano.

NOTE: Allentando la vita del giunto della slitta Y, la slitta è caduta.
