please find below a short summary of the activities of 21th on the mountain related to the AO system.
Italian people working at LBTO were:

Most of the work was dedicated to the testing of the revised Ao arbitrator. After successfiul testing we have set the new arbitrator in the running version of the system. The revised arbitrator and the related GUI are more friendly for unskilled users. Moreover the propagation of alerts is now consistently functioning. Some further enhancements will be necessary. Some of them will be fixed in the next few days.
The AOS was revised to improve the log messages. The offload modes function has been also modified to cope with the new interface to the PSF and PCS subsystems. We have tested the offload modes function by manually forcing the generation of offload requests to the TCS and we have verified the correct transmission of commands. We have also tested the correct mode function which applies modal corrections to the AdSec
on request by TCS. This functions is ready to be used by the TCS as soon as the function to compute corrections will be implemented in TCS. We also discovered a bug in the finite state machine of the AdSec
, which will be fixed as soon as possible. For both functions there is still some uncertainity regarding the need of coordinate conversions. LBT 672A
The mirror was working without relevant failures during all the observation period. The flattening problem reported in the last days seems to be partially solved after the application of smart algorithms to work around the cap sens bad readings in a few external actuators affecting several neighbours. The flattening obtained allowed to proceed with the planned commissioning activities without significant loss of performaces. Please find attached an image showing the telescope PSF taken the last night (courtesy of Jasper and John), with FWHM of 0.5 arcsec and no relevant aberrations. A big improvement with respect to the Romulan starbird of the beginning.
