Calibration of Z11: FPIA vs EF results

We stepped through Z11 = {-2000, +2000, -500, +500, -1500, +1500, -1000, +1000, 0}. Before each manual adjustment to Z11, we ran dofpia to focus and collimate. Then we obtained an extra/intra focal pair of images. After that, we manually removed the Z11 we had introduced and ran dofpia again before going to the next Z11 value in the sequence.

Results of FPIA analysis follow. The columns are:

Several notes:
  1. The value of Z4 which dofpia returns has an additional term to compensate for the Z11 it has computed. The rationale is that sending this value of Z11 will change the focus, so this term, -1.9*Z11, will compensate for this focus shift. The results for the individual pupils do not have this term included.
  2. The last 3 columns are coma and spherical corrections which are based not on the geometry of the pupils, but on the illumination pattern. These are used only when the M-factor is above a certain value (seeing really bad, e.g.? ... need to check... actually thought this was obsolete now).
  3. All of these are extrafocal pupil images, with the primary mirror -0.8 mm below the nominal focus.

 Z11 = +2000 nm lbcb.20091023.073022.fits star 8 ---
        two blended stars, and FPIA drew a diameter around both, Z4 and astig at least would be wrong
 Z11 = -1500 nm lbcb.20091023.075224.fits all stars (Z4 ~ -16000 nm?)
        the outer diameters are poorly fit for all of the pupils - instead of the outer diameter, dofpia fits around
        the inner flux concentration - same problem as for 2 pupils on 080810.
 Z11 = +1500 nm lbcb.20091023.075911.fits star 4
        same star as that numbered 8 in 073022... it is blended, this time even with a 3rd one.
 Z11 = -1000 nm lbcb.20091023.080810.fits stars 14, 17
        there are two stars where the outer diameter is drawn around the central flux concentration and not the pupil -
        these may be the two faintest ones, so increasing the flux threshold would help.
 Z11 = +1000 nm lbcb.20091023.081457.fits star 5
        again the blend of 3 stars.

FPIA crashed. Pupils have too much flux concentration in the center.
