Starting Configuration - PEPSI-PFU/PETS

  • PEPSI-PFU Engineering - HAT-P-1 binary star acquisition test
    • Each star in binary system in different PFU
    • Sunset - 18:29hr
  • PESPI-PETS PFU - 18:30-00:34

LBCs - TMS Tests

  • Reconfigure from PEPSI-PFU to LBCs 00:35-01hr
TMS Testing
  • Channel Dropping - 01hr-04hr
    • Note: May need to allow TMS correction while the shutter is open for this test. By default, TMS correction doesn't happen during the exposure.
    • Proposed Test Plan (Heejoo & Andrew):
      1. set the target at the high elevation
      2. FPIA and then take a new TMS reference
      3. drop the channel on both sides
        1. test basic functionality, dropping, 1, 2, 3 if possible channels (careful to leave at least 6 and at least 1 on each retro)
        2. run tms for at least 10 minutes and repeat 10 minutes or so
      4. check the LBCs images jump and TMS correction log.
      5. move to a lower elevation and repeat 2-4.

    • Conditions - up to 1.2" seeing, thin clouds

    • CRITICAL: targe requires 2-object acquisition - the PA should get both objects in the slit, but to be sure, use the 2-target acquisition to align both nuclei in the 1" slit
    • Observe telluric star first
    • If only 1 LUCI is available scripts are made for HKspec only - and are located in /home/lbto/Service_Observing/2022B_D_E/Rothberg/DwarfMergers/Mono_Backup

  • Run these if TMS cannot be executed, but the telescope is open -OR- when TMS finishes and the D-time program cannot be executed

    • Any conditions
    • Should be sufficient targets to cover entire part of the night
    • LUCI-1 zJspec G200 1" slit, LUCI-2 HKspec G200 1"slit (all but one)
    • if only one LUCI available scripts is zJspec
      • ICR5 93.24-13.5 (G210 Hz LUCI-1 and KJ LUCI-2) - RA 06hr Dec -13 - J=12 highest priority visible 21hr-04hr
        • if only 1 LUCI available the script goes through G210 KHJz
      • Pick Targets in OT based on visibility (anything RA>04hr) and best to avoid clouds, winds, etc. Target name has RA and Dec in it (e.g. IERS 0509+293 is RA 05hr Dec +29)
