LBTI 1st half/part

  • Twilight-21:14 - LBTI Fizeau engineering setup (2hrs)
  • If conditions acceptable for Science
    • 21:15-02hr Io Occultation (4hrs)
  • If conditions unacceptable for Science
    • LBTI engineering continues to 00:03hr - then handover
AO/ESM On-Sky Checks
  • Reconfigure for LUCI-Bino - either at 02hr, or 00:04hr
  • Below is not neccesarily order of operations
    • 1 D-time target is end of night, ESM can be done earlier, etc - depend on conditions in real time
    • Either half a night is available or ~3hours is available
    • There is some flexibility on handover based on weather/science
  • OSCO - only if handover at midnight - otherwise proceed to other tasks

    • Goal is to constrain whether stars are binary or single down to the limits of AO/ESM - can also be used as a check of the system - about 30min w/overheads per target
    • Target 4 RA 10hr Dec +21 -visible 04:45-twilight (end of night target) Full AO - Bin 2 - Highest Priority
    • Target 1 RA 03hr Dec -18 - visible 00:15-04:45 - optimal 02:15 Full AO - Bin 3 or ESM Bin 4 - if conditions are very good, use Full AO, conditions less good use ESM - 2nd priority
    • Target 2 RA 03hr Dec -18- visible 00:15-04:45 - optimal 02:15 Full AO - Bin 2 - 2nd priority
    • Target 3 RA 10hr Dec +21 -visible 04:45-twilight (end of night target)- only execute in the best conditions - lowest priority
