Night Plan

  • Since iLocator has completed their observations
    • Configure for LBCs at start
    • LBC Twilight Flats (if clear)
    • TMS testing twilight-23:23
    • Reconfigure from LBCs to bino-LUCI 23:23-23:53
  • LUCI-1 AO testing 23:54-04:15

      • ESM OT Version 36
    • OSCO w/NCPA 23:54-00:30
    • Close separation targets (0.1"-1") - 1-2hr
      • One run with NCPA on, one run with NCPA off
        • Target 2 BD+00 2888 R=10.7 - separation 0.225" - need 256x2048 subframe
          • Backup 2MASSJ1226+3347 (to avoid wind) - separation 0.3”-0.4”
        • 2MASSJ1128+3136 R=13.5 - 1" separation - 1mag difference in flux
        • 2MASSJ13061537+2043444 R=8.5 1.6" separation (64x2048 sub-framing) - 1.2mag difference in flux
          • Backup 2MASSJ10590395+6349283 (to avoid wind) - separation 1.57”
        • BD+33 2137 RA10-11hr Star 1 in Binary folder R=10.3 - separation 2.4" separation 0.5 mag flux difference (might be too far apart - but wiki log showed this was an issue - but seeing was unsteady)
          • Backup 2MASSJ15553957+4025135 - separation 2.3”
    • Bin 2 ESM w/new AO Supervisor
      • Dual BLR - visible 02hr-twilight - 1hr
      • /home/lbto/Service_Observing/2022A_D_E/LUCI/DualBLR/Dual_BLR_ESM_MODS_V2.xml
    • Cat's Eye Nebula (if time only, and DIMM 1" or better - FeII or PaBeta)
    • NGC 2359 - ESM Bin 1 (if time)
    • In parallel to observations:
      • Verify no jumps in AO w/LUCI N30 - IT 8578/IT8579
      • Continue to test RTD Sub-frame
  • D-time Science (MODS) - 04:30-twilight
    • Dual BLR 1.5hr - end of night
    • /home/lbto/Service_Observing/2022A_D_E/LUCI/DualBLR/Dual_BLR_ESM_MODS_V2.xml
    • Conditions: seeing < 1.2" on DIMM, thin clouds OK
      • RA 17hr +47Dec
      • DO NOT OBSERVE Before 03:30hr

Poor Weather Backup

  • AO TESTING
    • ESM testing in poor conditons - collect FWHMs of stars in ESM on L1 and SL on L2
      • Mixed-mode are TargetName _ESM_SL.xml
        • M67 /home/lbto/Service_Observing/2022A_D_E/LUCI/AO_ESM/ESM/M67/
        • Twilight-02hr
          • Bin 1/ R=8.9 (pick any PA)
          • Bin 4/R=16.51 (pick any PA)
        • M92 /home/lbto/Service_Observing/2022A_D_E/LUCI/AO_ESM/ESM/M92
          • Bin 1 (R9pt4 scripts) or Bin 4 (R15pt1)
  • LUCI Photometric Standards (any seeing, if so bad can't guide, use track mode) - requires clear skies
    • /home/lbto/Service_Observing/2022A_D_E/PoorWeather/LUCI_Phot_Standards
    • Select stars based on visibility, need to get stars at two different airmasses
  • LBC Photometric Standards (any seeing clear)
  • MODS Spectrophotometric Stds and Photometric Standards
  • Poor Weather Science Backup - any non-iLocator good enough conditions qualify
    • Rothberg - Local Mergers
    • OT: /home/lbto/Service_Observing/2022A_D_E/PoorWeather/Rothberg/LocalMergers/COBandhead_Mergers_V42.xml
