Night Partition

  • Night split with LBTI
  • Moon rises 00:31 - through twilight (58%)
  • Night Center - 00:31
  • HANDOVER 00:26
  • D/E-time: 2nd half

Issues:

  • MODS-2 Dichroic not functional
    • UPDATE - R. Pogge has altered acqMODS and execMODS MODS-2 - can use regular scripts.
    • If MODS-2 not released to use, then use MODS-1 only and use regular acquisiton scripts (i.e. Feige_67_Red_Acq.text) and acqBinoMODS

Calibrations to be done

  • MODS cals taken - PI only needs slitless dual grating and dual arcs. No need for 1" or 0.6" slit flats

Night Plan Eng Time

  • Configure for MODS-Bino
  • Observe Feige 67 first - Regardless of Conditions
    • script location:/home/lbto/Service_Observing/2021A_D_E/Feb_Mar_2021/Rothberg_Science/MODS_SpecStds
  • mid-z ULIRGs
    • Script Location: /home/lbto/Service_Observing/2021A_D_E/Feb_Mar_2021/Rothberg_Science/mid-z-ULIRGs
    • OT file: midz_ULIRGs_V4.xml
    • Conditions - Seeing 1.2" or better, thin clouds or better
    • FF0937+3857 - 3x1800sec if Bino-MODS - sets at 4am
    • if MODS-1 used only take 2x1800sec exposures - spend more time on IMBH target
  • DONE IMBH Candidate
    • Script Location: /home/lbto/Service_Observing/2021A_D_E/Feb_Mar_2021/Rothberg_Science/IMBH
    • OT file: J1601_Optical_Followup_V3.xml
    • J1601 - visible from 12:30 through twilight
    • Conditions - Seeing 1.2" or better, thin clouds or better
    • Observe target until can't any longer - script has 5 exposures - manually take extra if time available - might need to if running MODS-1 only
  • POOR WEATHER BACKUP
    • If conditions improve - complete the current exposures and then please move to J1601 above - this target is the #1 priority for tonight
    • Local Mergers - MODS
      • Script Location: /home/lbto/Service_Observing/2021A_D_E/Feb_Mar_2021/Rothberg_Science/Local_Mergers/scripts
      • OT File: COBandhead_Mergers_V8.xml
      • Any conditions
      • DONE IRAS_15225+2350 - rises above 30 at ~00:30
        • Should see a gaint arc or tail to the left of target
        • Scripts take 4 exposures - this is for MODS-Bino
        • for MODS-1 only add 1 or 2 extra exposures, especially if cloudy (so 5 or 6 total) and then move to next object (which is significantly brighter)
      • NGC 6598 - rises above 30 at ~01:30hr
        • center slit on core/nuceus - may need to change stretch to find the peak
        • if MODS-Bino - 3 exposures
        • if MODS-1 only can add additional exposures (1-2) depending on conditions and time left in the night
