2019 September Restart OUTLINE


General Scope of Activities

  • Closed Dome/Daytime Instrument Checks (each instrument must be released before night-time work can begin)
  • DONE LUCI-1 / LUCI-2 Mask Exchange (required for zeropoint rotator checks)
  • DONE Telescope wake-up
  • DONE TCS, PCS, GCS
    • DONE Run 2018B 2 nights
    • DONE Switch to 2019A (soon to be 2019B or 2019.2) - run on-sky
  • DONE M3 alignment
  • DONE AGW 1 and DONE AGW 2 alignment
  • AO on-sky tests of SOUL/FLAO
  • High Priority for ZP checks/measurements for LUCI, MODS, LBCs

    • A document that includes "step 6" (take LUCI data) has been provided to the OSA for review. It includes the procedure to follow.

      • DONE zJHKKs - LUCI-1 has dust dougnuts on it - should repeat
      • narrow band - so far - BrGamma, FeII (LUCI-1 only) - dust doughnuts - should repeat
    • LUCI-2 DX AO test images - high (0.5 hr)
    • LUCI-2 DX ESM test images - high (0.5 hr)
    • Characterization of ND filters (verify on-sky) - medium (0.5hr)
    • MPIA tests of sub-frame readout - D. Thompson lead (priority?)

  • M3 DX alignment - AGW2 pupil-wobble
  • LBC Skyflats (complete the set taking into account various cleanings during restart)
  • LBC standards and spectro-photometric standards
  • LUCI ND filter verification (focus offsets, on-sky checks)
  • OSCO
  • Possible light leaks in LUCI-1 narrow band filters (under review)
