SOUL-Commissioning

UT 00:39 - LUCI GUIs started, init'd, test darks taken, staying closed for winds and creeping humidity - starting with closed dome calibrations

UT 04:35 - preparing to open

UT 04:44 - window peaked so not opening

UT 06:03 - still close, winds peaking ~20 m/s, temp -8.8 to -9.8 humidity ~60%, but SMT is 75%

UT 06:55 - staying closed until UT 7hr - more return on letting SOUL do closed dome tests

UT 06:58 - SOUL closed dome testing done

UT 07:08 - preparing to open

UT 07:18 - LUCI-2 MOS error - trying to request N30 Fieldstop elevation 45, rotator was at 210

spindle is at -1395,but mask 2 is at -1350

error is postcondition violation storage to FPU, storage to turnout, translator to mask, angle ok

Everything is locked - translator is not at correct positon

running initialize - recovered

UT 07:23 - trying again

-moved to -1353 OK

--although not sure i needed to do this, since if its good seeing i will need to put M67 maks in position

UT 07:37 - DIMM 1.7"

-M67 is 10 degrees from the Moon, all other LUCI MOS masks are down are not yet up

UT 07:42 - moivng away from M67, need to point and collimate - this gives an idea of how bad things are with the mirror being 7-8 degrees warmer than ambient

UT 07:50 - left side failed, trying to figure out why, right side is collimating slowly but will take some time

UT 07:55 - LUCI-1 guider 2.2", LUCI-2 2.7", DIMM - RMS are still high

UT 07:59 - RMS ~1000 on WFS, seeing reported as 3.1" on LUCI-1 and 2.2" on LUCI-2

-converging to about 2" for DX, SX still collimating

--seems to be about 2" on both sides for the guider/WFS

-DIMM doesn't seem to want to give a value

UT 08:05 - Giving up on tranform - seeing too poor - switching to ARGOS

UT 12:06 - AGW4 error again - deciding to stop using it and alert Petr - going to LUCI-1 only

UT 12:23 - starting spectra - guider 1.55"

UT 12:28 - sending preset to NGC 2782

UT 12:39 - starting spectra

-now seeing drops to 1" (clouds are helping though - at least 1 mag of extinction)

L1 0011-0015 (15 is spectra)

UT 12:53 - resending preset - lost guidestar on offset

-changed acq itime to ndit=12 and changed offsets from -/+65 to -65/+40

had to offset +0.18" to center up in slit

UT 13:02 - starting from 2nd dither position (+40" had to manually configure instrument)

-guider showing 1.49"

L1 0021-0024 spectra (24 might be iffy)

UT 13:35 - seeing 1" on guider

UT 13:34 - finished - got 50 min, cloing up now

No need for cals, can re-use ones taken Dec 11.
