UT Dec 31 - 2nd Half D-time (first half OSURC partner science)

OSA: J. Williams

ISA: B.Rothberg

ISp: G. Bechetti

Mtn Manager: M. Wagner

Night Center is 00:22 (MST) - will hand over at 00:17 (MST)

Accomplishments:

Troubleshooting MODS-1 data computer error IT 7285

LUCI-2 MOS error recovery

H-band Library 5 additional stars added under seeing conditions 1.8"-5" (not a typo)

UT 23:41 (-1 day) - started up LUCI GUIs - ran init all, MODS started up

UT 00:41 - Blue dewar pressures for MODS-1 not reporting, restarted IC and IGPOWER - reporting OK now

UT 00:52 - powering on LBC-Red, will be observing 3 NS targets at ended of night for Veillet.

-IT 7285 occurred @UT 06:03 - some downtime for recovery

-struggling with collimation, particularly on DX

-seeing continues to be poor, winds increasing

UT 07:08 - reconfiguring for LUCI-Bino - OSURC ending early given the conditions - closing enlcosure during change due to winds close to limits

-leaving MODS awake in case we switch over later

UT 07:20 - taking 2 test dark exposures each LUCI (luciN.20181231.0001-0002)

- winds hitting limits briefly

UT 07:46 - enclosure open, moving to pointing and collimation check with LUCIs

UT 08:05 - DX primary panic - going to zenith (collimation on SX was ~2.5" DIMM is 2.5")

UT 08:21 - went to diffrent pointing star - not convinced the same star was on both sides - DIMM has hit 5" a few times - if this continues, will go to H-band libary

UT 08:26 - ESM punted - seeing is 3.5" in DIMM and guiders, DX panicked

First Target HD 58526 - G2I H=4.2

UT 08:40 - panic recovered

UT 08:41- DX panicked again

UT 09:05 - moving to telluric for HD58526

UT 09:07 - LUCI-2 MOS error

UT 09:24 - putting LUCI-1 mos mask in FPU

UT 10:11 - recovered LUCI-2 mos error (thanks to Dave verifying my last steps) - moving to a new higher elevation target

UT 10:12 - pointing check and collimation for HD 63791 (G0I) - out of wind

UT 10:26 - moving to Telluric for H-band HD 63791

UT 10:27 - missed GS on DX side

-pointing check

UT 10:32 - resending preset - DIMM 3.37"

L1 0003-0011

L2 0003-0011

(6 exposures on each side)

-humidity rising

UT 10: 51 - moving to HD 63791

L1 0012-0020

L2 0012-0020

UT 10:58 - LUCI-2 filter error FW1

-starting to collect ice outside enclosure

Completed HD 63791 - FIRST SCIENCE DATA OF NIGHT FOR LBTO!

UT 11:10 - -pointing check for telluric for next set of stars (other side of sky)

UT 11:23 - sending preset for telluric - will use this for several stars in this region of the sky

-another FW1 error LUCI-2

UT 11:31 - DX taking a while to collimate

-continuing, i just went photons in the slit - doesn't have to be perfect

-taking 6 exposures for telluric

L1 0021-0029
L2 0021-0029

UT 11:50 - moving to HD 100745 (M0III)

UT 12:00 - starting spectroscopic integrrations

L1 0030-0037

L2 0030-0037

UT 12:08 - moving to HD 97646 (K5III)

LUCI-1 Camera Wheel error

LUCI-2 FW1 Error

and also both sides missed the star

-pointing check

UT 12:17 - sending preset again

UT 12:23 - RTDs on both sides slowed to a crawl and frozen

L1 0038-0045

L2 0038-0045

UT 12:37 - moving to HD 99814 (M3III) - much brighter target - seeing might be improving - we'll see

UT 12:38 - missed it on DX (pointing)

UT 12:42 - pointing check

UT 12:46 - resending preset

LUCI1 might be offset a bit - moving to clear,z to take a thru slit - blasted - just going to go with it

L1 0046-0054

L2 0046-0053

UT 13:05 - moving to new target HD 99724 (K3III)

L1 0055-0062

L2 0054-0061

UT 13:10 - power bump in remote room

UT 13:20 - powering off LBC-Red

UT 13:22 - closing dome - will do LUCI Bino Cals for H-band library

UT 13:23 - power bump in remote room

Will also run pixelflats on MODS1/2 in parallel (Dual Grating)

L1-0063-0080

L2-0062-0079

LUCI-2 FW1 error again

UT 13:55 - putting LUCI-2 into safe config

Running Arc Lamps (Dual Grating)

UT 14:01 - putting LUCI-1 into safe config

UT 14:11 - putting MODS2 to sleep

UT 14:12 - putting MODS1 to sleep

And I am outta here.....
