Summary:

ARGOS Eng - completed tests on-sky, including measuring a pupil wobble by taking images at multiple positions along 0.25" slit

Eng Tasks Accomplished -

1. spectrophotometric standard in all modes

2. photometric imaging field - dual imaging for MODS mask pre-imaging (also test of MODS2R)

3. MODS-Bino AGW Transform data collection/confirmation - however, only ~10 stars were obtained as conditions rapidly deteriorated

4. Test of MODS2-Red in real science longslit spectroscopy - 30min exposure - worked - but resulted in a red grating fault (see IT 7496)

5. Observed 1 backup poor condition program QSO (MODS-1 Dual, MODS-2 Blue)

--MODS2 Red is currently unavailable again.

--Updated MODS2 rotator zeropoint, and MODS 1 & 2 new transforms are still active from AGW transform collection


Backup Eng Taak To-Do List:

1. MODS-2 Red on-sky checkout

a/ a spectrophotometric standard in all modes (if time is a factor, then I'll skip blue-only modes),

b/ a photometric imaging field (or any sdss field, but I have scripts for a couple of fields with photometry from Clem et al or Stetson)

c/ the Praesepe field, which has 5 or 6 stars with ZYJHK from UKIDSS and sdss ugriz photometry, and which would serve as a pre-image for a mask, thereby avoiding the limitations of using a catalog and autoslit.

3. MODS-Bino AGW Transform data collection/confirmation

4. MODS pointing, LUCI pointing

5. Test monocular MODS blind offset - make sure script engine update is working

6. ESM/SL Comparison

UT 05:25 - restarted PCS - fixed most of the issues (HA is still odd)

UT 06:10 - looks like it grabbed the wrong AO Ref star - system reports multiple stars and the one it grabbed was R=13. AORef star is R=10.7 (and there are no clouds and seeing is better now)

0029 - +20" DETY star is in upper segment (one above central segment) galaxy is at top of central segment - might be too much

0030 - -15" DETY - both look to be in segment

UT 10:04 - MODS2R seemed to skip the acquisition thru slit and just take the field image, manually taking it now

headers all screwed up, but last two manual exposures of 10sec worked

UT 10:15 - RGRATING =1 move fault, move 1 but requested position 2, hit Retry

UT 10:16 - fault on retry, cleciked Imaging, OK, clicked Grating...OK

UT 10:19 - red IMCS lock failed, hit retry OK

-i swear i'm not trying to break MODS2-Red....

UT 10:59 - clouds really rolling in.....don't think transform is doable - However, Olga found the missing piece of the puzzle

1. Update AGW.INI on mods1 and mods2 computers

3. Start age, start ie

4. PCSInstrunment.conf - make sure to update rotator zeropoint

5. Bounce PCS

6. run the transform init script to setup both MODS

7. Take your data
