Eng Split Night with SOUL-Commissioning

Observers: O. Kuhn, B. Rothberg

OSA:. S. Allanson

ISp: J. Riedl

Mtn Manager: P. Hartley

Plan:

1. AGW transform StoneD with LUCI-1 and LUCI-2

2. AGW trasnform with MODS2 (and MODS1) with updated MODS2 rotator zeropoint

UT 03:07 - J. Hill updating the AGW Transform computed by D. Miller, will restart systems later and update PCS config with the measured rotator ZP uopdate to LUCI-1

UT 03:40 - G. Taylor is running ESM on DX to test and is saving the CCD WFS data (seeing is 1.8"-3")

UT 07:46 - telescope handed over to LBTO - PCS and GCSL have been bounced, heading to pointing star.

20181102/lfbg/ Log for SX

20181102/rfbg/ Log for DX

UT 09:15 - Olga waking up MODS1/MODS2

MODS-Bino AGW Transform

UT 09:23 - putting LUCIs in safe mode - reconfiguring for MODS-Bino

UT 09:25 - Olga updating PCS Config to change the right rotator zeropoint, first making a backup copy PCSInstrument.20181102.conf, then changing to

Measured delta theta in September (during restart - see wiki page for 20180910) as 0.76, changing right rotator zeropoint to 26.79

UT 09:32 - restarting PCS

UT 09:45 - setting up MODS for 3Kx3K sloan g, 3seconds blue on both sides

UT 09:48 - sending binocular preset to StoneD

UT 09:52 - resending preset to GS0 in StoneD

starting filenames:

mods1b.20181102.0002

mods2b.20181102.0002

-config script homed AGW so we lost GS

-run script then send preset for transform

UT 09:58 -sending preset

UT 10:02 - starting transform collection

-copointing limit hit

changing list for GS0 to start

UT 10:10 - Running Stone_D_MODS.list from wfsc directory, 35 stars

UT 10:18 - star saturated so stopping, then going to change back to 1Kx1K for readout

starting on GS5 so have to set TS=5 in the preset via IDL, i.e. we wanted to start with GS5 instead of the too bright GS0
  • IDL> iif_preset, Stone_D, MODE=Active, GS=5, RS=5, PA=225, /RIGHT
  • IDL> iif_preset, Stone_D, MODE=Active, GS=5, RS=5, PA=225, /LEFT
  • iif_binoc_preset
then run trasnform collect

Added later (20181127) by OPK: list was Stone_D_star5_mrg.list, having 34 stars, and I believe that the syntax for the iif_preset commands use GS=5, TS=5, not GS=5, RS=5. RS refers to AO reference star.

M1R 0004 - first

M2B 0004 - first

Changing exposure times from 1R 1sec 2B 3sec to 5seconds for both sides

Changing exposure time on 2B from 5sec to 10sec so can better see holes

-remember to take a bias at the end of the script

mods1r 0009 GS 19 - star is off to the top left - perhaps got the wrong off-axis star

MODS1Red is reading out 3Kx3K, MODS2Blue is reading out 1Kx1K

mods1r 0023 - faint star in wrong spot - mods2b shows it OK

UT 12:07 - MODS2Blue completed

Taking biases on the blue side mods2b 0040-0044 biases

UT 12:22 - MODS-2 put to sleep

UT 12:26 - MODS1 done

taking 5 biases mods1r 0040-0044

UT 12:27 - closing up

Leaving the transform and upated LFBG rotator zeropoint in place

Reverting back to previous MODS-2 rotator zeropoint
