Summary

Details

Initial problems with Mount REGEN circuit.

Sky is full of moderately thick cirrus. Wind gusting to 15 m/sec from Southwest.

Adaptive Optics Tests

02:30 - 05:30 UT Testing new SX AO reconstructors, reinstalled SX AdSec, unified AO software, NCPA software

(notes from Doug here later)

LFBG Field Aberrations

07:08 UT Final adjustment to M2 Tip=-35 arcsec Tilt=0

SX M2 Active X=+0.505 Y=-2.236 Z=+0.228 RX=+233.3 RY=+54.1
SX M2 Manual (Tip=-35) X=0.000 Y=+1.787 Z=0.000 RX=-343.7 RY=0

SX M2 Global (new) X=+0.505 Y=-0.449 Z=+0.228 RX=-110.4 RY=+54.1

These were applied to PSF/SXSMLUCIFERCollimation.dat, and propagated to the other SX Gregorian focal stations (and to the ARGOS positions the following day). My (JMH) interpretation is that we needed a fairly large tilt correction because we allowed active optics to remove the initial coma rather than removing it with XY translation.

OSU/RC Science observing

Initial pointing for MODS1 was IE=-56 CA=-38 at AZ=45 EL=63.

Handover to John and Evan for OSU/RC science observing. Immediately the seeing gets worse and the sky gets more cloudy.
