LBC Focal Plane Tilt

01:00 John tries to collect LBC data to determine shim size to improve focal plane tilt, but seeing is too bad.

01:45 JC and JC confirm that the SX CCD39 equalizing routines that Alfio installed during the day fix the problem. This problem had been fixed on the DX side in October, but the sw had not been updated on the SX side.

Collimation with High Order Zernikes

03:35 Doug turn on High order, Z12-22, corrections to make sure signs are correct.

04:15 Confirm they are correct sign. Now need to make the scale factors correct.

05:00 The quick calculated values are in and close to correct

05:10 Start zernike_collect, LIMIT=300., /VERBOSE with EXP=10 hardwired

05:20 set EXP=6 and START=6. Take 10 iteration and not converged. Seeing is a bit worse

05:30 LIMIT=400.

05:35 LIMIT=500.

05:40 OK, seeing settled down, data collection moving along

  • If XX is positive delta then all SH spots move to the right
  • if YY is positive delta then all SH spots move down

08:54 Problems collimating at 48 elevation, rotator angle = 330, vignetting of some SH spots, SH spots shifted to the top of their subaps

  • setHotspot left -x 215 -y 230 centered them

09:39 Correcting high order modes (Z12-22) helps for not dim stars and little vignetting. However HO modes can make the collimation worse.
