1st half of night: NON-sidereal SW testing: 11 January 2012 UT

Summary

At the beginning of the night we lost 1.5hr to collimate. There was a large thermal gradient between ambtemp and mirror and a configuration file for the secondary was missing when we switched to the LBBG focal station for NS guiding tests.

1st half : We tried NS guiding on the LBBG focal station but it was not working (this was actually a test for T.Leibold). We did not manage to use MODS either with NS guiding because some configuration files are missing - InformationTechnology send to Rick about it. As a last resort we switched to LBC just to see if Michelle's patches are working properly. Things seem to be working fine. NS SW tests finished early - 05:00UT (10:00MST).

2nd half: Checked whether the 1" jumps frequently seen at the guider are due to telescope or guider. The result is that it is not the guider, but have by now no idea what is the cause. Spent the rest of the night in taking performance verification data. Lots of collimation and dice5's at various elevations. Seeing was pretty variable, from 0.6-2". Had about 2-3hrs in the 2nd part of the night with subarcsecond seeing. No losses during 2nd half of the night.

Doug analysed the data during the course of the night. The conclusion is that the guider is NOT the cause for the jumps. It could potentially a focal station problem.
