MODS1 Commissioning Run 4: UTC 2011 January 14-18

Summary

The enclosure bogie problem is very severe. After their engineering review this morning, I was informed that the telesope could be disabled for up to 2 weeks while the problem is being addressed.

For the short term I will use the time to continue MODS1 off-sky testing. Having access to a live instrument provides an opportunity to move various tests and observing command-and-control enhancements ahead on the schedule. I can't test some things back home like I can here with a live MODS just 4 floors up.

We (LBTO and Team MODS) will be reviewing the commissioning plan going forward to see how we can still make our target of SDT for late May/early June.
