03:25 execute JflatCalUnit.txt. The calibration unit is in, with the Halo2 lamp on. Telescope is at zenith and lights are off in the dome. We are actually using the OH_1060 filter to cut down the flux. Script says SAVE_MODE = INTEGRATED, but somehow the filenumbers are up to 282 even though there are only a couple of images on disk. My bad...the script was saving to 20091029, not 20091129, and there were already 200+ images there. Corrected and restarted....and run a second time starting 04:05UT. Images starting to saturate at 25s, but not 20s.

05:48 executed a FLUSH_DETECTOR script, time to complete: 10m49s = 5.40s/image. It does NEXPO=120 NDIT=1 DIT=1.98 without saving. Where does the extra 1.44s/image overhead come from if the files are not saved?

Time execution of "DARK 1.0 1 20" in savetest.txt script. DIT defaults to 1.98, so compare time/image here with the FLUSH above to get time to save a single DCR exposure. Time to complete: 3m15s = 9.75s/image. So save time is 9.75-5.40 = 4.35s. There is a little overhead in starting the script, about 4 seconds, before the first integration starts.

Time execution of "DARK 1.0 20 1" in savetest2.txt (image saved as INTEGRATED). Time to complete: 1m41s = 5.05s/image! Here there is only one save to disk vs. 20 in the previous test.

Observing Plan

  • Complete what was not finished on the prior night.
