Summary

Most of night lost night to rain and clouds. Finally opened at 02:50 AM (MST) and got half an hour on-sky before the clouds returned.

Preparations

Chiller problems caused by bogus parameters in ECSPLC while it was raining at the beginning of the night. See Issue 2256.

09:48 Open T=10.3 D=6.9, Sky clearing, wind 6 m/sec from SE.

09:53 Stop and restart OSS to position M2

09:55 Raise SX Primary Mirror

09:57 preset TRACK parallactic 20:51 +48 - Adjust IE=-97.2 CA=-39.5

10:04 preset ACTIVE on-axis 20:52 +7 - image is a donut, so we help with Zglobal=-0.2, Tglass=14.8 degC.

10:10 losing guide star due to clouds, seeing was about 1.5 arcsec for the few minutes we saw the image.

Microphone on the new web camera MUST get a wind baffle!

10:15 guide star is lost

10:16 preset ACTIVE to a brighter star 20:00 +30 - but found nothing - clouds

10:21 Nancy can't send new preset because it claims that previous is still active, but IIFGUI and events say that previous preset failed. Volker restarts the LUCIFER telescope interface.

10:26 preset TRACK (goes through OK) 22:36 +36

10:28 a little bit of condensation appears on LUCI window

10:32 Close as sky has clouded over 100% again. T=10.0 D=7.1

New sky brightness monitor was reading 21.5 mag/arcsec2 (naked silicon), but temperature went off the scale of the plot. Joe: the night sky is cold, so you need the scale to go lower. (maybe to -40 degC on a clear winter night)

10:36 to zenith for LUCIFER tests with dome closed.
