Summary

* Open:7:05
* Check of the Z stage focus positions vs filter +ND2.0
* Cirrus clouds passing.
* Technical tasks most complete, the globular cluster is skipped.
* Hard to keep the loop close for long time. Clouds passing made drop flux on the CCD39 and the loop open. * The part of the night dedicated to science was interrupted by thick clouds. We got the chance to test the scripts for many of programs but we did not manage to actually obtain scientifically useful data
* There was a time sensitive target scheduled for tonight, but although we pointed at it we did not manage to close the loop long enough to finish the program because of clouds - only a couple of images were obtained with the AO loop closed
* Few points of DIMM data. It was hard to acquire the star

08:45 we keep sending presets but we do not see the target anymore - thick clouds.... we wait

08:53 slew to Cusano FL_Tau to see if it is visible...
  • we see the binary and we note the flux - we try to obtain some frames but the AO star is not always visible
  • we tried 3 presets but they all failed because of clouds
  • when we finally got to start a dither pattern we only managed to obtain one image and then the shell ripped because we lost the AO star (clouds)
  • measured mag between 13-14 in R+I - supposedly 12mag (according to proposal)

09:25 we give up on the FL_Tau and we prepare to slew to Patroclus.

09:30 the TO is trying to collimate on a bright star close to Patroclus.

10:14 coordinates are correct - for secs we manage to see a fuzzy source on the AO guider but not bright enough to close the loop because of the clouds!

10:20 we can now see the star on the AO guider but it is still too faint to close the loop

  • we hit limits for the PA with pisces and the TO sends a rotational offset through iraf

10:43 we saw the source move out of the guider field - we send the preset again
