Creating PRM files for LCH

  1. Copy the target list file into the following directory on any obs machine: /home/argos/LCH/PRM_Generation/
  2. Log into the argos account in any obs machine.
  3. Go to this directory: cd /home/argos/LCH/PRM_Generation/
  4. Run the following scripts (and follow the prompts):
    • To create PRM files for Az/El targets: python
    • To create PRM files for RA/Dec targets: python
  5. PRM files will be created in /home/argos/LCH/PRM_Generation/PRM/

Uploading the PRM files to

  2. Go to
  3. Login with a registered account.
  4. Go to FILES > UPLOAD
  5. Browse for the desired PRM files.
  6. In "Destination", select "/zLCH/LBTO/PRM"
  7. Click UPLOAD
  8. A confirmation e-mail will be received at the e-mail address for the registered account.
NOTE: Be aware that the uploaded files will be deleted after 15 days. Take that into consideration when there are PRM files for dates more than 2 weeks away. They will have to be uploaded later. The confirmation e-mail will include a link to an "API query", which lists the files and their scheduled deletion date.

Retrieving the PAM files

  1. When LCH uploads PAM files, registered users will receive a notification via e-mail.
  2. From any obs machine (logged in as argos), open a vnc session in dx-lalas: vncviewer

  5. Re-create the links with the corresponding PAM files:

    ln -s <AZEL file> currentAZEL.txt

    ln -s <RADEC file> currentRADEC.txt

Setting up the Satellite Avoidance System for the night
