Py-WFS Daytime Checks

Functional Checks of the Py-WFS:

  • Connect to the machines wfssx/wfsdx via ssh.
  • Check the status of the software; w_check
  • All the process has be connected to the message demon. Start/stop software; w_stop/start.
  • Power on using the board setup option wfs_test.
  • Check telescope lights;
1.- All lights on:

  • Check the devices turn on.
  • Power on manually from the hardware gui: bayside stage, filter wheel1,filter wheel 2,pupil rerotator.
  • Check that the devices have performed the homing command.
  • Move bayside stage by some amount negative for X and Y (default x:-77mm and y:-55mm) and positive for z (default:45mm)
  • Move filter wheel 1. Change filters.
  • Move filter wheel 2. Change filters.
  • Move the pupil rerorator. Activate the pupil rerotator tracking.
  • Move filter wheel 1 to mirror.
  • Turn on the ccd39.
  • Check ccd39 is live and framing.
  • Move the camera lens; in the CCD39 we have to see that the pupils images moves X and Y.
  • From the Engineering gui configure the loop parameters: speed:990 binning 1 and modulation 3. Check that the CCD39 is framing.

2.- Not light or floor lights on.

  • Power on using the option without CCD47.
  • Turn on the ccd39.
  • Check ccd39 is live and framing.
  • Move the camera lens; in the CCD39 we have to see that the pupils images moves X and Y.
  • Turn on (little joe controller) the CCD47, change binning to 1 and check is framing.
  • From the Engineering gui configure the loop parameters: speed:990 binning 1 and modulation 3. Check that the CCD39 is framing.

Stage movements checks

To perform this check is required to notify to the mountain or to telescope work group that the rotator is going to be used.

The movements of the stages are checked against gravity. The rotator moves 360 degrees and the current is monitored and recorded.

In the Bayside Stage hardware GUI the position and the current are displayed.
